About EasyVOB: Verification of Benefits for Behavioral Health Providers
EasyVOB is a verification of benefits (VOB) service built for behavioral health and addiction treatment providers. Admissions and billing teams submit a patient’s insurance details through the EasyVOB dashboard, our U.S.-based, HIPAA-trained specialists verify the policy directly with the payer, and a completed benefits breakdown is returned by email — most of them in under 10 minutes.
A completed EasyVOB verification tells you whether the policy is active, what the in-network and out-of-network deductible and out-of-pocket maximum remaining are, and what that policy has historically reimbursed at each level of care — Detox, Residential, PHP, IOP, and Outpatient. That last piece is what a standard eligibility check will not give you. Knowing a policy is active is not the same as knowing what it pays.
EasyVOB is operated by Easy VOB LLC, a California limited liability company based in Huntington Beach, California.
Who builds and runs EasyVOB
Jeff Evans — Co-Founder
EasyVOB was founded and is run by former admissions directors and behavioral health billing professionals — people who have personally processed tens of thousands of verifications and claims for treatment programs. The product exists because they spent years doing this work by hand: sitting on hold with payers during an intake call, reading a benefits summary that technically answered the question but did not help anyone decide whether to admit a patient.
That background is why EasyVOB reports reimbursement history by level of care rather than stopping at eligibility. It is the number an admissions director actually needs at 11pm when a family is on the phone and a bed is open.
What a completed EasyVOB verification includes
- Policy status — active or inactive coverage at the time of verification.
- In-network (INN) benefits — deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, including amounts remaining.
- Out-of-network (OON) benefits — deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, including amounts remaining.
- Reimbursement history by level of care — what the policy has paid across Detox, Residential, PHP, IOP, and Outpatient.
- Coverage details relevant to behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment.
Results are delivered by email to the person who submitted the request. Our team may follow up if the payer requires additional information to complete the verification.
How an EasyVOB verification works
- Submit the patient’s information. Log in to your EasyVOB dashboard and complete the secure verification form — patient name, date of birth, insurance member ID, payer, and consent.
- A specialist verifies the policy. A U.S.-based, HIPAA-trained member of our team verifies coverage directly through payer systems. Verifications are completed by a person, not by an automated eligibility lookup alone.
- You receive the benefits breakdown. The completed verification arrives by email. Most are returned in under 10 minutes.
EasyVOB runs on a credit model. Each verification uses one credit, and credits are purchased in single-use or monthly plans. See EasyVOB pricing and plans for current tiers.
Levels of care we verify
EasyVOB is built specifically for the behavioral health continuum of care, and reports benefits at the level of care your program actually bills:
- Medical detoxification (Detox)
- Residential treatment (RTC)
- Partial hospitalization programs (PHP)
- Intensive outpatient programs (IOP)
- Standard outpatient treatment (OP)
Mental health and substance use disorder programs both fall within this scope.
How EasyVOB differs from an automated eligibility check
An eligibility check confirms that a policy exists and is active. A verification of benefits explains what that policy will actually do for your program.
Most automated tools return an eligibility response: active or inactive, plus a general plan description. That is a starting point, not a decision. EasyVOB verifications are completed by specialists who know behavioral health billing, and they include the out-of-network detail, remaining deductible and out-of-pocket amounts, and level-of-care reimbursement history that determine whether an admission is financially viable.
Privacy, HIPAA, and your Business Associate Agreement
EasyVOB handles protected health information (PHI) and operates as a business associate under HIPAA. Submissions are encrypted in transit, our verification staff are HIPAA-trained, and a signed Business Associate Agreement is available to every customer.
To be precise about what that means: HIPAA does not issue certifications, and no vendor — including EasyVOB — is “HIPAA certified” or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. What we can tell you is how we handle your data. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for the full detail.
